‘Appaholics’
Technology and student creation- getting beyond the “app”. As school leaders we know that our kids must begin to prepare for learning in a new age. We talk to our teachers about it but we still aren’t seeing what we want. Curriculum Mapping — From Roots to Results

Digital Direction with Digital Portfolios
Do you need a little guidance on which way to go with all the digital tools being thrown at you? Digital portfolios is one tool that will allow opportunity for students to showcase mastery of content through a variety of methods other than paper and pencil. Flipping the Classroom Through Flipped Learning
Flipped Classroom is a reversed teaching model that delivers the mini lesson as homework through interactive videos. This allows the students to watch videos at their own pace, pausing when needed and asking questions via online discussions and gives more time in class for hands-on, inquiry based lessons. During this professional development you will obtain a plethora of resources and knowledge of how to implement this method into your classroom.
HELP! I have students that can’t read!
Are you an elementary school teacher that is struggling to teach your students to read? Is this your first year teaching? Do you teach middle or high school and have students reading on a first, second, or third grade level? Whether the student has just entered school or is close to graduating, you will learn how to identify a student’s area of need in order to plan strategic instruction to close the literacy gap. In this session, we will discuss the logical progression of reading, identify student gaps that hinder their reading success, and discuss ways for children to develop a love of reading. Be ready to work-this session will be hands on and require participation! Since most children that struggle with reading lack foundational skills literacy “buzz words” that are most likely be discussed in this session include decoding, encoding, phonics, DIBELS, phonemic awareness, letter identification, letter-sound correspondence, comprehension, and fluency.
How to Build an Engaging Classrooms through Coaching and Evaluation
What should a school administrator look for in the 21st century classroom during formal and informal observation and evaluation? With the new Common Core standards and the state evaluation rubric there is a lot for principals, school leaders, and teachers to think about. We will use this session to not only watch several lessons and discuss our ratings but we will also talk about things to “look for” when doing formal and informal visits to the classroom and how to give constructive and meaningful feedback without overwhelming your teachers.

Personalized Learning is doing what is best for students but can be overwhelming to start implementing in a classroom. We provide small action steps through our training so teachers do not feel overwhelmed and see how it fits into a lot of what they are already doing.

- Examine the need for an authentic approach for Project and Problem Based Learning while teaching essential content standards.

- Discuss and plan an Inquiry Project Based Unit of study and Problem Based Unit
- Look at different ways to integrate technology
Teach like a real scientist by integrate reading, writing and math through Science Notebooking. We will explore how to implement science notebooking in a classroom, through hands-on activities. Science Notebooking will organize students notes, enhance classroom instruction and increase student achievement.
Stretching the Limits: Text Complexity and Close Reading
Common Core State Standards call for the high expectation that all students read and understand increasing levels of complex text independently from a wide range of genres. As teachers we much stay true to the demands of the text without over scaffolding and entice students to try new things outside their comfort zones as readers. How do you put students on target to handle difficult text without you? Wait to find out 5 steps to stretching the limits to text complexity and close reading.
